Dr. Mayer has presented a Marine Pharmacology seminar that provides a  critique of the  preclinical and clinical research pipeline in marine pharmacology  from the perspective of the peer-reviewed literature. Marine antitumor pharmacology research is global in nature, and in 2003-4 pharmacological research was conducted by investigators working in 22 countries and the United States. Similarly marine pharmacology research in non-antitumor activities is also global in nature in 2003-4, and was conducted by investigators working in 28 countries and the United States.
